DJI partner with Periscope for LIVE Video!

by 9to5dji

DJI and Periscope ( Twitter ) have teamed up to bring the Periscope live streaming experience to the DJI Phantom 4 ( and likely 3 / Inspire ). the experience will be the same as it is currently with a GoPro and users will be able to switch on the fly from the DJI Drone, a GoPro and an iPhone.Android users will be a little sad though as it will be iPhone only for now.

You can now broadcast using DJI drones and show the world what you’re seeing from a new perspective. Experiment by broadcasting with DJI drones, GoPros and use the new Sketch feature to create unique and compelling content that will excite your audiences.

Requirements

iPhone 5S, 6, 6+, 6S, 6S+ with iOS 8.2 or above
DJI Inspire, Phantom 4, Phantom 3 Professional or Advanced, Osmo
Getting Started

Connect your phone to the DJI controller using a USB to Lightning cable.
Turn on the controller and the drone by pressing the ‘On’ button, releasing, and then pressing and holding again until the light panel is fully lit.
Make sure that the external camera icon is visible.
Open Periscope and tap the Broadcast Tab to begin your broadcast.
Broadcasting Tips

Switch between broadcasting from the drone camera and the front facing camera on your iPhone by double tapping the screen.
Try using the Sketch feature to highlight objects of interest from a bird’s eye view.
Swipe right during a broadcast to select which Camera source you’d like to broadcast from: GoPro, DJI, front-facing iPhone, or back iPhone.
You can lock the screen by tapping lock screen. Unlock by swiping across the top. This comes in handy if you need to slip your iPhone in your pocket and prevent accidental taps.

I don’t believe you can. I think as soon as you close Periscope, the stream stops. You can run the DJI GO App and stream live to Facebook though as its built into the DJI GO App.. Works very well too 🙂
