I have seen a lot recently about people making 3D printed X5 adapters for the Osmo, and in some cases, filing down the Osmo’s adapter ring to make them fit. This got me thinking how much of a good idea this approach is.
Both methods of retrofitting the X5 on the Osmo *seem to work OK but what worries me is the extra pressure it places on the X5’s connector mount point as well as the clearance for the buttons ( the 3D printed ones may require you to remove the “joystick” pr print an alternative cover for the Osmo gimbal ).
As you see from the image below ( screen grab from a CES 2016 video ), the official DJI mount provides a more secure mounting as well a lots more clearance from the handgrip as to avoid interfering with the buttons.
Me personally, I will wait for the official one t be released, not only does it provide better support for the X5 and also allows unobstructed access to the buttons, it looks more professional too 🙂
